Carte Blanche to … Sébastien Notre

Art is intrinsically linked to the history of our perfume house. Yuri himself was a man of letters, a great poet and a dreamer. Today Clara’s artistic talent breathes his multimedia art into our fragrant universe.

Sébastien Notre recognised this artistic connection at Le Jardin Retrouvé. His meeting with Clara became a creative brainstorm that brought this magnificent collaboration to life.

Sébastien is a painter and sculptor who is both talented and charismatic. He practices his art in the beautiful city of Milan and is inspired by the world of art and design. You’ll often see how he threads cultural references from cinema and history throughout his visual work.

For his collages, he draws his inspiration from the stories that Clara wrote about each Le Jardin Retrouvé fragrance. Her words touched him and he embarked on a work of iconographic research. The first images, as always, stem from his first impressions before he opened a dialogue with Clara about the project. Sébastien Notre regards communication with the brand as a vital part of the final result, and with Clara, an artist herself, it has been a particularly rich experience, with vivid references and close attention to detail.

His collages are a new interpretation of the product, but always aligned with the brand’s identity and the message it wants to convey.

Sébastien Notre prefers the method of cutting and collage by hand and finds this hands-on method to be an important part of his approach. The complexity brought by the composition transcends the images and another story is created at the moment of the collage. The iconographic research, on the other hand, is done using the modern and inexhaustible resource of the internet

Sébastien’s objective is to make the collage as close as possible to the brand’s universe, following his own artistic instincts.

He fell in love with our Verveine d’Été fragrance, just by listening to Clara talk about it. He was transported by her words and immediately wanted to make this summer scent his own. Sandalwood Sacré also left a deep olfactory imprint upon him.

With Tuberose Trianon, the shock was even greater. The flower literally popped out of the bottle… He was very impressed by this feminine floral.

Sébastien told us he was particularly attracted and even moved by touched by the unique artisanal aspect of our perfume house, and the authenticity and heritage of our fragrances.
